Overwhelmed by Choice: Helping Employees Select the Right Learning Option

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

There are numerous triggers of anxiety at work.  Learning and development should not be one of them; however, employees may feel overwhelmed by the prospect of selecting the right learning opportunity from a seemingly countless number of options.  As L&D professionals, we can help reduce the anxiety brought on by the amount of choice, if we:

• Challenge self-perceptions of learning styles
• Educate employees on learning terminology
• Align time commitments and assessments with employees' goals and availability
• Capture feedback on learning opportunities
• Provide best practices for learning in different instructional modalities

BIOGRAPHY

Dr. David Paredes is an Adjunct Lecturer in Purdue University's Learning Design and Technology graduate program.  He has over 20 years experience in the field of corporate learning and development.

SCHEDULE

Please join us up to 15 minutes early for a technology check, sign-in, and informal networking.  We will get started at 8:00AM.

SHRM CREDITS
This program is valid for 1 PDC for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.

REGISTRATION FEES
Members can log into the website and register to attend the program for free.  Guests will need to register online and pay a fee of $20.00. We'd be more than happy to apply your registration fee toward a chapter membership when you become a member within one week of this program.
