PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Facilitating training should not be about the facilitator it is about the participants. During this high energy, activity packed training you will learn firsthand how to keep the participants engaged and moving.

BIOGRAPHIES
Cherrie Spurlin is the Master of Strategic Leadership Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor at Mount Mercy University. Those who have worked with Cherrie describe her as a very positive person. She is often told her enthusiasm is contagious. Cherrie believes people are a company’s greatest assets, and true leadership is about taking the time to mentor, coach, and develop others. Cherrie brings over 15 years of experience leading teams in multiple industries. She has a master’s in strategic leadership and is a certified human resource professional. Cherrie is an Advisory Board Member for the Salvation Army and is passionate about volunteering in the community. Cherrie led the Human Resources Department, which was a recipient of the 2017 Corridor Business Journal Award in Nonprofit Talent Engagement. Cherrie is currently in a doctoral program studying strategic leadership.

Marcie Van Note is the Director of the MBA and Master of Strategic Leadership programs at Mt Mercy University and a consultant in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She has been a leader in the human capital field for over 25 years with experience in senior leadership roles in human resources and training in both non-profit and for profit organizations. She has presented at local and national conferences with an emphasis on talent development, leadership, change management, coaching, train the trainer, developing a positive culture, employee engagement and motivation.

Marcie has a master’s degree in Training and Performance Improvement (Ma ED). She has volunteered at many organizations including Downtown Association, local Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) chapters, American Cancer Society and delivers Meals on Wheels. She is Past President of the Hawkeye Chapter, Association of Talent Development (ATD) and participated on the Chapter Recognition Committee for national ATD. Marcie received the national Teaching Excellence award from the Council for Accelerated Programs in 2016. Marcie works tirelessly to ensure employees and businesses work together to become successful. Marcie’s style is described as engaging and original. She has the ability to get everyone involved in the learning process through interaction, humor, life experiences and passion. Marcie’s personal philosophy is that learning is an ongoing process — never, ever stop learning.

SCHEDULE
Please join us up to 15 minutes early for a technology check, sign-in, and informal networking.  We will get started at 8:00AM.

SHRM CREDITS
This program is valid for 1 PDC for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP.

REGISTRATION FEES
Members can log into the website and register to attend the program for free.  Guests will need to register online and pay a fee of $20.00. We'd be more than happy to apply your registration fee toward a chapter membership when you become a member within one week of this program.
