Site Program Title:  Performance Improvement: Gap Analysis

SHRM Credits: This program is valid for 1 PDCs for the SHRM-CPSM or SHRM-SCPSM

Description:  Performance Improvement: Gap Analysis

Rigorous analysis based on data rather than a gut feeling or suggestion, is needed when proposing any performance or training solution. Doing training for training sake is a thing of the past.  Today, we need to get it right and ensure behavior changes when an employee returns to their job.  To do this we must ask the right questions and look at the data we have. In this interactive session, we will look at those questions and identify the four main contributors to “learning scrap”.  You will walk away with handouts that will help you be a better performance consultant and zap the gaps in performance.

Presenter: Marcie Van Note

Marcie Van Note is the Director of the MBA Program at Mt Mercy University and a consultant in Marion, Iowa. She has been a leader in the human capital field for over 25 years with experience in senior leadership roles in human resources and training in both non-profit and for profit organizations. She has presented at local and national conferences with an emphasis on talent development, leadership, change management, coaching, train the trainer, developing a positive culture, employee engagement and motivation.

Marcie has a Master’s degree in Training and Performance Improvement.  She has volunteered at many organizations including Downtown Association, local Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) chapters, American Cancer Society and delivers Meals on Wheels. She is Past President of the Hawkeye Chapter, Association of Talent Development (ATD) and participated on the Chapter Recognition Committee for national ATD.  Marcie received the national Teaching Excellence award from the Council for Accelerated Programs in 2016 and now serves on their national board.  Marcie’s style is described as engaging and original.  She has the ability to get everyone involved in the learning process through interaction, humor, life experiences and passion.  Marcie’s personal philosophy is that learning is an ongoing process — never, ever stop learning.
