Virtual Program Description: Interactive E-learning - Engagement in the Virtual Environment

Student enIgagement is one of the pillars of teaching. While in front of a room full of learner’s engagement can be a little easier to achieve. There you have direct contact and visual cues to guide you and your class on the right path. Training in the virtual world can be significantly different. Students in the virtual world have many more paths to choose from and getting them to focus on yours is a challenge. Designing engaging e learning is one of the ways we can encourage our learners to continue on the path we have chosen for them. Developing elearning that can assist in this engagement is the key.
In this session we will:

  • Discuss the role of relevance and accessibility in engaging elearning
  • Identify how learner’s personal experience can play a role in their virtual engagement
  • Consider how multimedia can affect engagement in the virtual realm
  • Outline some best practices in elearning design to encourage engagement
  • Demonstrate elearning examples designed for engagement
